In a matter of minutes, the street lights came on,
the sky turned from blue and white, to yellow and purple,
and then to orange and dark blue.

It’s five twenty-five
it’s about time
to say goodbye
the clock
keeps on ticking
the sunlight fades away
moments passing
nothing else seems to change
the street lights
came on glowing
it’s the end of the day
it’s five thirty-five
now it’s time
to say goodbye.

A blanket of clouds
under a clear sky
a sheet of waves
above a calm sea
resting there
in the shadow of the moon
a school of fish
whisper to one another
‘Good night
and sleep tight.’
